Society of Friends of the Salzburg Marionette Theatre

Over more than 100 years (the Salzburg Marionettes celebrated their 100 birthday on February 27, 2012), three generations of the Aicher family have devoted loving care and enthusiasm to maintaining and cultivating the ancient art of puppetry. Encouraged by loyal supporters, we have decided to found a Society of Friends of the Salzburg Marionette Theatre, in order to expand the Theatre's range of activities. We hope that friends of the Salzburg Marionette Theatre will feel committed both to tradition and to new challenges.

Membership fees and donations will go towards research into puppetry, expansion of the library, cataloguing and documenting past productions and the unique store of costumes, as well as to improving the technical equipment of the theatre. Plese contact us for more informations:

  • Adaptation and performance of the old "Kasperl" plays
  • Documentation of the costumes in illustrated books and publications
  • Setting up a library

  • "Encounters with …" Artists tell about life amongst the marionettes
