Since 107 years (the Salzburg Marionette Theatre celebrated its 100th birthday on February 23, 1913), family Aicher devoted its enthusiasm and love over three generations to the continuance and cultivation of the ancient art of puppet playing. In 2016 the theatre was taken onto the list of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. With this recognition UNESCO honours the practice of performance of the Salzburg Marionette Theatre as a cultural heritage and “highest developed form of puppetry and marionette theatre”.
