First collaboration with the Salzburg Festival, in the Small Festival Hall. The marionettes performed together with singers, actors, chorus and orchestra, in Carl Maria von Weber's opera Oberon.


Co-production with the Salzburg Landestheater of Janos' Der Josa mit der Zauberfiedel, a musical fairytale for children, set to music by Wilfried Hiller. Production of Ein Fall für Mozart, in which a narrator takes children through the five great Mozart operas.

First collaboration with the Salzburg Easter Festival, in Sergey Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, with Tobias Moretti as narrator. To mark the 70th birthday of Gretl Aicher and the 85th anniversary of the Marionette Theatre, the "World of Marionettes" museum was opened in Hohensalzburg Fortress.


Première of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.


The Marionette Theatre celebrated its 90th anniversary in February. Restoration of the foyer. Première of Humperdinck's opera Hansel and Gretel in December.


February/March: five-week US tour. In the autumn the marionettes will go to Japan and Hong Kong. Since 1913, the Marionette Theatre has undertaken 240 tours at home and abroad.


In July, première of An Hour with Mozart. Guest performances in Switzerland, France and Hungary. November/December: six-week US tour.


March: three-week run in the Paris Théâtre Déjazet Déjazet with Mozart repertoire, followed by performances in Strasbourg and Milan. July/August: the theatre participated in the cycle of all 22 Mozart operas at the Salzburg Festival and co-produced Bastien und Bastienne and Der Schauspieldirektor. In the autumn, the theatre gave performances in Costa Mesa/California. December: three-week tour of France. Since 1913, the Salzburg Marionette Theatre has undertaken 250 guest performances and tours in Austria and abroad.


Repeat of the co-produktion of Bastien und Bastienne and Der Schauspieldirektor with the Salzburg Festival. May: rehearsal starts for the Broadway musical The Sound of Music; première on 2 November 2007 in Dallas, Texas, at the beginning of five-week US tour.


“Sound of Muisc” premiere in Salzburg. Tours to Athens, Madrid. Three weeks stay in Paris with a french version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in December.


Performances in Essen and Leverkusen. A tour leads the theatre for the first time to Arabia to the “Spring of Culture”-Festival in Bahrain. Further performances in Turkey, Greece and Finland.


Renewal of invitations to Bahrain, Oman, Algeria and Abu Dhabi. New production of Claude Debussy’s “La boîte à joujoux” (The toy box) for the Ittingen Festival. Pianist András Schiff will accompany the puppeteers live on the piano. Premiere of a french version of “The Sound of Music” for 4 weeks performances in Paris through Christmas 2010 and the New Year.

Gretl Aicher, artistic director of the Salzburg Marionettes dies unexpectedly on March 14.Coproduction with the Salzburg State Theatre: The Ring of the Nibelung. Guest performance in New Yorks Carnegie Hall. Tours the Switzerland and France in autumn.


Guest performance in Muscat/Oman. February 27: The Salzburg Marionette Theatre celebrates its 100 years. Recreation of the fairy tale Snow White. Premiere of the new production Alice in Wonderland in September. A big tour leads the Theatre through the United States.


Coproduction with the Salzburg State Theatre „The Wild Things“ and „The Magic Flute“. Recreation of „The Barber of Seville“ due to a cooperation with Salzburg Festival. Guest performances in France, Germany, as well as five-weeks US tour


Recreation of „Peter and the Wolf/Little Red Riding Hood“. Guest performance in Brussels „The Ring of  the Nibelung“, in autumn: first tour to China.
